Hopeless: Chapter 14

The floor below Brook was a pearly granite like stone that reflected her every step and the murals of angelic creatures that covered the white walls that would have been plain had it not been for them. A mirror cascaded above her, covering her with a black shadowy blanket as she looked at her own gasping reflection. There stood a sweet girl with a childish innocence still illuminating from her skin. She held the same piercing emerald eyes but they held a sparkle that had long been forgotten and her jet black hair was longer and held by a untainted white ribbon. The little girls neck, like her own, was bare along with her petite feet that were frozen to the icy floor. Her dress, that resembled that of a Victorian styled dress colored in pure snow white, hung just above her knees. A glow from the tall windows caused by the moon that sat full in the sky gave light to the world around her. In one of the great windows, violet eyes seemed to call out to her as the form around them came to be Misery. “Mizy!” She called in a pleading, child like voice that had not been heard in a decade. Brook collapsed as she tried to reach the window that kept distancing itself from her. Shadowy figures in another window revealed two people she had longed to see again, to beg for their complete forgiveness, but instead of coming to relieve her of her sins, her mother and father looked back with sad, disappointed expressions and spoke not one word. “Mommy! Daddy!” Brook spoke again in that same innocent, small voice that seemed to pain her even more. Her legs appeared to remain in place like a treadmill, never letting her get any farther then the spot she had appeared at. Next appeared Emma and Emily, the vampire twins, that stood in the window by the cascading door, that loomed taller then any one of the windows. The smiles they held were corrupt and the body of Colt manifested itself in between the two vixens. His cerulean blue eyes still grasped that same trustful aspect as the time she last saw them. Bella and Fate both took shape beside Misery, their heads shaking in utter displeasure of her current state. Brook could not continue to exhaust herself like a mouse on a wheel, so she fell to the ground with a painful shrill, cutting her knees with her fine tipped nails to stop the tears. “Please Forgive me!!!” Instead of replying with open arms or at least telling her it was of no use, they just disappeared as if never caring once for her well being and just moved on. The door swung open as soon as the last figure had dissolved and in its gaping mouth it contained something that tore her a part more then she’d like to admit. “West,” His blank jaded black eyes grasped no feeling just the coldness in which she felt. Brook extended her hand towards him, wishing he would grab her in an embrace, never letting her escape from him again. “I’m sorry,” She cried not strong enough to control her tears any longer. A warm hand caressed her shoulder but gave an unpleasant feeling throughout her body. When she peered up there was a gun at her chest and she could see those soul less cobalt eyes smirking at her. “Say Goodbye Demon Witch,” West vanished like boiling water and the gun shot off into her chest. She could scent the blood and felt it gush out of her unstoppable and unwilling to be altered to stop. Brook heard screams, like those of twelve years ago, just with more then just her mother who tried to dive to save her ungrateful daughter. Brook’s neck strained as it became chocked by the cross that had once gave her hope but now tried to take any ounce of hope away. “Brook Lynn,” her vision faded and she was tossed into darkness as her racing heartbeat steadied. “Live!”
She jumped up, sweat beaded on her forehead. She slowly go up and tried to walk to the door as she stumbled dizzily to find it. “Austin?” The door seemed to be a little ajar and peering beyond it was a horrid troll looking creature. It was safe to assume this, this, thing was probably a demon and not a troll but still….cant assume shit. Brook decided to clear her throat in an attempt to get its attention even though she had debated on not doing it. It looked directly at her and tried, or at least she thinks, to form words that weren’t so friendly, she could tell by the growls. “Uh…Could I get some cooler clothes?” It grumbled and barked at her and she just rolled her eyes in response. How was she suppose to get contact with this THING being her only means of it? “Ah Brook, dear, your up,” She felt a nauseous feeling a rise in her stomach and try to let itself known through her throat. She kept her gaze leveled to his, not willing to show anymore weakness then she already had. “Here you go,” as if Austin had known all a long she needed cooler clothing, he handed her a pair of shorts and a blood red tank top. Brook’s hand quivered, unsure if the clothes were safe or covered in some acidic poison that would eat through her skin. She grabbed them fast, almost hissing at him to challenge him to take them back. That’s when she noticed the guy behind him. His hair was tipped with a neon blue that went brilliantly with his coal black hair and his eyes a darker indigo color. NATHAN. She should of known. The desire to rip his vocal cords out was so hard to resist and had Austin not motioned for him to go away she just might of. “I could get rid of him if your displeased,” Brook had to ponder the thought, it was quite lovely but she wanted to do it herself. Austin’s slender finger caressed her face, pulling her chin a little higher to look deeper into his icy holes. “You are my first priority,” She pulled away from him and shot her eyes downward to notice a tiny figure standing near Austin. The child looked up at her with familiar black eyes but filled with so much fear. He was a demon, that much was so but the fact that who he belonged to ate away at her like maggots on a corpus. Austin smirked, pleased with her curious gaze. He motioned for the child to come closer and as he came into the light she noticed he wore a collar like she wore her necklace. “This…” He pushed him towards Brook, the child shaking at his touch. “is Sike. Your vamp friend’s child. Seems she had been pregnant for awhile,” He hinted to her almost to say it wasn’t all his brothers fault. She smiled sweetly at the brunette child trying to get him to stop shaking. “We gave her a drug, Long before anyone knew what was going on. She got addicted to it and the feel of the moment she could have the sun warm her cold skin. Though drugs have side effects and her immortality was slowly taken,” Brook’s eyes were to weak to open wide enough to express the shock she had just received. If only Emma had told her, confided in her but then she didn’t even tell her on flesh and blood. “She took the drug because it gave her a chance to be loved and to love in return. Being a vampire prevented things like children and him, well he’s a miracle. She chose to have him on her own. We did not force this on her and now he is ours,” She noticed the boy dart his eyes from side to side as if trying to find a way to run but he knew he had no where to go. His mother was gone and his father, who knows who that might be, She had to take him. “His vampire blood is vague. He has a strong Demon aura around him so vampire weaknesses should not affect,” Brook grabbed Sike as Austin pushed them both inside the room. “Nighty Night, My darlings,” with that he slammed the door and Brook was left with the little half blood boy. She could not let the boy see her fear or feel her sadness so she smiled as brightly as Fate would. “Hi Sike, I’m Brook. I was one of your mommy’s good friends,” His eyes seemed to water but he smiled showing shimmering white fangs. She knew as she looked around the room noticing someone had been in here to clean up, what Emma had meant by them. Then again this was just one little boy and she had said them not him. Brook was brought back by the boy’s embrace. She froze, not knowing exactly what to do in this kind of situation. That’s when she realized he was just as alone as her so she grabbed him and hugged him back tightly. As the hug ended, he stepped back giving Brook a full scan of him. He reminded her of West with the same black eyes and brown hair, his skin, though, held a little lighter color then his. The realization was enough to make her lose all composure but she smiled to prevent tears. Brook knew she needed to be strong for Sike and protect him from Austin who she now held more anger for then fear. “Mom,” Sike called in a concern tone as he waited patiently for her to speak. Brook cringed but could not tell him she couldn’t be his mother. Instead she motioned him towards the bed to play games to keep his mind and perhaps hers at ease. Brook now had her reason. She now knew what her dream meant. Brook may not be able to escape for herself but she would make it for Sike.

Bella finally made it home where she laid out everything she needed. She used her crystal and found the location to where Brook is. Even if West wasn’t going to be there to protect her, she’d do it herself. She packed everything rushing as she shoved them in. “Done,” She said proudly to herself and grabbed her things to go. “Bells?” Bella stopped I her tracks at the pleading voice of Dean. “I have to go,” She said but couldn’t even take two steps before he grabbed her and pulled her towards him. He kissed her lips in a deep, passionate kiss to which she didn’t reject. It was almost enough to wait another night but she knew she had to go. As he let go of her, Bella’s senses came back to her before she begged him not to stop. She wished he could just comfort her and make all her worries disappear but that wasn’t right and she had to do what was right. “I love you Bella,” Dean said to her and she could tell he meant it with all his heart. She almost moaned as her heart broke slightly as she gave him a fake smile and pushed him away. She darted out the door not wanting to look back at his broke expression. Bella knew he would be packing his things and thinking she didn’t love him but she had to go. Dean had to stay away for his own good. She got in her car and a few tears fell from her mask and fake smile she still held and as she pulled out the driveway she stopped for just one moment and looked back. “I love you too,” with that she pulled away to save her friend and end her chance of love forever.

With a matching hair band, Fate pulled her purple hair up in a pony tail as Daniel wrapped his arms around her growing stomach. “I love you,” He whispered sweetly into her ear and she replied with a swing of her hips. Fate felt guilty for leaving Bella to fend for herself but her baby and Daniel were of more importance. She loved Brook even cried every night missing the girl’s sarcastic teasing and her challenges. Daniel’s happiness made her forget just a little and she was able to mask all her pain and growing guilt. She feared for her friends, West’s increasing depression, and for the deaths to come but mainly she feared for her child that might be more vampire or more human. Why did it all have to be so difficult? For once she would like everyone to skip around and celebrate happy times. She turned around and kissed Daniel in an attempt to drown her mind. It worked….at least for now.
