Beauty of Eden

Isolated beauty cast aside
They say beware
temptress of the snake
poisonous skank
but beautiful
all the same.

Entranced by something sinister
that's what they believe
because I can't breath
Take my eyes away from sun kissed skin
away from light cracked lips
caressed by her tongue so wet.

Perhaps it is something mystical
that traps my heart
cry's when she's hurt
that defends every gaze
her touch, a sway
a flick of fire burned hair.

Poison graces
tainted kisses
sad eyes look towards me
to love, to cherish
beauty
so venomous.

Knowledge and Innocence: The Apple and Choice

I awoke upon the emerald lands
a light wind blowing across my skin
underneath a tree of shade
with apples on every end

Of course, this has to be dream
I tell myself out loud
as a snake of scarlet
falls towards the ground

and I, not fearing such
remain very, very still
for if it isn't a dream
I'd rather not be killed

The snake senses me with his tongue
and almost seems to purr
as he twirls around my arm
I listen to its words

"Here issss your one chanssse"
it forces out between hisses
"Choossse between knowledge
or never ending ssstupidity."

It wasn't much of an argument
but, yet, I knew the price
should I choose the apple
I fall to hell's device

Even knowing and being the christian that I am
I could not stomach the idea
of sacrificing all the thoughts I have
giving up my life plans

The scarlet snake glistens
and his beady eyes gaze up
waiting for my answer
but I can't quite use my tongue

To force this choice
I cannot say
what sane person
would choose the latter way?

It is a dangerous thought
but I awake before I can say
and as I lay in bed
the choice is clear to me

Without telling you my choice
and writing this down
the fact that I wrote this poem
is knowledge that I have

What would you choose
as the snake slithers across your hand
would you choose the latter
or would an apple cross your lips?
